One thing I have learnt being a Psychotherapist over 17years is that anxiety is rarely about the here and now.
It is usually about what has happened in the past or a fear of what will happen in the future. Both of those things ironically are out of our control, therefore one of the keys to managing anxiety is to focus on the here and now. The things you can control. It could be something small just this week, that you can do to help yourself, such as journaling your feelings, going for a walk, or connecting with a friend.
The real key to anxiety is to try to catch the thoughts before they develop, as a thought leads to a feeling, which then leads to a behaviour. So if we can catch the thoughts and re-frame them, this then leads to a different feeling and therefore a different behaviour as a result. I know it’s not that easy, but that is the start, consistency is key. Want help with that, head to my Psychotherapy section to read more about my packages.
